Abortion is an Evil Enterprise
One of my ten year old students taunted another student with these cruel, heartless words, “Do you know what you are? You’re a failed abortion.” Then he laughed. What was he saying? We don’t want you. You don’t matter–the words of a bully. His words chilled me. Out of the mouths of babes. Is it no wonder that random killings are on the rise? What in the world is going on?
Choices have consequences.
I mourn as I grieve the loss of the little ones whom never had a chance at life. My heart weeps for them. That is why I have more to say about abortion in addition to what I posted in Part 1.
Deception marks the way society expresses what is happening to these innocent lives. For example, when the statement is made that it is the woman’s ‘right to choose,’ I ask you, what is she choosing? Is she really choosing reproductive rights? In real reality what exactly does that mean? To reproduce is to give life to something. Does the female fetus, a preborn human being in the womb, get to choose? Is her life as important or less important than the life of the woman carrying her?
We can’t pick and choose whom we are going to care about. Human life is human life. All human life matters. All. This is true. All human life matters.
What they don’t tell you at the abortion clinic.
The powers that be, the proponents of the right to choose, have conveniently dismissed, denied, forgotten, disregarded the truth about life in the womb. The fetus has a separate DNA, a wholly individual identity, a true separateness from the individual in whose womb it is carried. He or she has a separate identity, a separate purpose, and a separate right–because of his/her status as a living human being. These beings are not the mother, the host, if you will. They are separate individuals with unique-to-them lives. We all know this in our hearts. But denial is uncanny. It lies to us.
Civil society has abandoned its mission to provide “justice for all,” when it chooses to look the other way as it pretends something bad isn’t happening in an abortion. Maybe society just doesn’t want the responsibility. Maybe it’s about money. Maybe it is a delusion, a big, fat, juicy lie that they’ve convinced themselves is right and good and the best way to deal with problematic, unplanned, or multiple pregnancies. I think it a calculated enterprise with dire outcomes.
A human fetus cannot fend for itself nor thwart those who would deny him/her their first breath, this side of the womb. When preborn babies are not wanted, they are at the mercy of society. The choice to deny/end life because of inconvenience, shame, indifference, or circumstances has damaged the soul of our nation. I do not say this lightly. Not defending life causes a hardness in us as a people as the pressure to abort with its tendency to think of outcomes to self is the prevailing voice of the times and comes at a chilling cost to the unborn child. Uplifting, life-valuing voices are barely heard and are often misrepresented. I believe some of the soul-less shootings that are common these days relate back to society’s casual, indifferent dismissal of life through what seems a flippant disregard of the unwanted unborn.
Think about it. This devastating but remarkable belief requires a hiding behind lies. What lies? Denial of the unborn child’s separateness as a living, thinking, growing, thriving being, which by the way requires denying the science. Innocent, living, developing human life in the womb is at the mercy of the will of the adult whom it is dependent on for its very life. Abortion is a grave and fatal injustice to a human life. They are given the death penalty for a mistake/indiscretion their parents made.
See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.
Stay mum about the ills in society, if you will. But there’s no denying the uncomfortable reality that in an abortion somebody dies. Such a strange dichotomy for a society that wants its citizens to care about the unfortunate. If people truly value life, then in our big-person-world they should stop picking and choosing what is convenient, and stop being two-faced by embracing some causes to protect life–like at the border, but not others–like in the womb.
For our collective social conscious to awaken, it needs to care and assert dignity to unborn, innocent life. Also, people who believe in life, like the pro-lifers, should not be branded with unjust labels, when all they really want is to save the children from certain death.
I am grateful for women who bring to term and give birth in an unplanned, inconvenient pregnancy (and I’ve known a few of these). They haven’t surrendered to the pressure to abort. These women have given the greatest gift there is, the gift of life.
There is help.
If you are pregnant and in this situation, where abortion seems your only out and you have no support to the contrary, please consider an alternative. There are those who will help you, who care about you, who will support you. You are not in this alone. Contrary to what you hear in the reports, there are many agencies, churches, and communities that will help you. World over, there are Christian people and Christian institutions that provide safe houses and medical services to assist you in choosing life for your unborn child.
So you had an abortion.
Christ does not condemn you. Neither do I condemn you. Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, “Where are your accusers? Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” Women I know whom have had abortions usually wear their regret deep inside where no one can see it. They suffer. They’re not whole on the inside. This article was hard to read for them, for the guilt, pain, and regret. I encourage you to get help.
Deal with it instead of ignoring it. The deadness inside is hurting you. For the Christian woman, it is critical that you dial down until you enter the heart of God. Repent of your part in this tragedy. Give it to God. Ask for His healing grace. Lay it on the altar before God. He loves you so. He forgives a repentant heart. Seek a godly Christian who will pray with you. Go to a good counselor who can guide you. Healing will come. Forgiveness will be yours.
Spiritual warfare is partly to blame.
And lastly, I believe abortion is a tool of the enemy to enslave us as a people to wrong actions and wrong thinking about those actions. He is a deceiver. He delights in manipulating people to do evil deeds that cause harm and injury or death. He is a master of disguise, of bondage and enslavement. This ‘sanitized’ holocaust is of his making with society’s complicity after Roe v Wade. People that stand up to it, pay a price. Read Randy Alcorn’s story. He was punished with the most despicable sentence. But it did not silence him.
Be bold, be strong, the Lord your God is with you.
A look behind the scenes at my struggle with writing these posts about abortion here. Courage, my friends.
