Two Novels in One Book: My Book Lunch ladies and I just read two novels in one book. Lively and interesting, they get at the heart of the meaning of Christmas. An illegitimate daughter of an actress, the heroine is looking for her father. Her journey plays out differently than expected. “Finding Father Christmas” and “Engaging Father Christmas” are delightful reads. Robin Jones Gunn knows how to tell a story that engages the heart of the reader. The first novel is now a Hallmark Channel movie.

I can say I truly enjoyed this book. It speaks my language. If you are on a search to know God and follow him, you will find value in this book. Many treasures for life and soul exist in the pages of Be Still and Listen. Read this book as a way to mine its reflective loveliness on the life hid in Christ, the knowing of fullness and joy, the apprehending of peace and love in increasing measure: all this as one absorbs the ancient truths through centering of the soul in Christ. Do this during times of meditation by sitting alone with God and listening in the silence. Apprehend what it has to offer through the profound practice of centering prayer. I particularly like Chapter 9, Finding Refuge, for I have experienced this unique phenomenon, this same delight in ‘refuge’ similar as has the author, Amos Smith. There is nothing quite like it. Get away from it all and center your being in the contemplative silences of Christ in the real.
