“WORK”

Working hard or hardly working?

Is work a dirty little word? Work can be viewed from several perspectives.

We work to make a living. We work to get things done. We work and work because much depends on our work. If we stop working, it shows.

Those of us who were raised with a strong work ethic know that there is a certain pride and intrinsic value that is received from working hard.

Some work is enjoyable, some is alright, and some stinks. However, they all have their place. Some have said, if you don’t work you don’t eat.

Humans were made to work. The opposite, laziness or lack of ambition, is detrimental to a person’s mental, physical, and emotional health.

We don’t have to like our work, circumstances, or employment, but it is nice if we do. If we don’t, a person can learn positive ways to deal with it.

The hardest work experience I ever had came in the form of an overly zealous, demandING, controlling boss. I had to divorce my mental outlook from work.

Focusing on God even in your work is beneficial. If I do my work to please him, it becomes less tedious or overwhelming. We are less to complain.

Take God to work with you. Now there’s a novel idea! A good one, too.
