Sorrow is a Teacher

Sorrow does something to a person.

We face sorrow in the early morning hours when sleep escapes us. We remember the loss, the hurt, the sadness, and wish it would leave us alone for awhile.

There are grades of sorrow according to its source. As hard as it may be, we must come to terms with sorrow’s presence in our lives.

Sorrow can be a teacher. It teaches us to look beyond ourselves, to help others, or reach out to God, that is, if we want to be healthy in our emotions.

Heart Warming Moments

Heart warming moments speak when we least expect them.

A heart warming moment is as sweet as a child scooping sand into a bucket at the beach with the delight of the ages seen in her eyes.

My eighty-nine year old aunt reaches out to clasp the hand of an elderly woman in the care home as they greet each other with a smile. A heart warming moment.

“I’ll help you with that,” says someone when the grocery bag splits and items scatter everywhere. It is heart warming to see all that help.
