“HONOR”
HONOR
We honor those who have gone before us.
We honor those who contributed something worthy to be remembered, to the better good. Their lives, unselfish, true, and good.
Some people conduct their business with honor. They live lives of integrity. They are truthful, honest, helpful, kind, and constructive. A person of honor will choose to do the right thing even when it costs. Honor adds value to a name. Character speaks loudly.
We honor fallen heroes, veterans, citizens who give of their best, some even with their lives, the ultimate sacrifice of a life for another person’s freedom. I have known someone who is honorable in every single way. He lives his talk and eschews praise or attention. He is my father.
My father will treat a person with dignity even when they have displayed bad behavior. Why? He doesn’t put himself above other people. He is gracious.
God can change a person from dishonorable to honorable. God cleans up the inner self and gives it a new identity, one with a good name. His Name.
Conduct this day with honor.
Do the right thing.
As time goes on I think that honour may be the only eternal currency.
But its existence is for others to gauge. Kind of like humility…claiming it negates it.
True. I wrote this piece awhile back and felt it was worth revisiting. Thanks for the comment, Andrew.
